Soyuz mates with ISS
p2pnet.net OT News:- A Russian spacecraft carrying two cosmonauts and US astronaut docked successfully Saturday at the international space station, "after approaching so quickly that a danger signal was activated, causing the crew to switch from automatic to manual control," says a CNN story, going on:
"The Soyuz TMA-5, carrying Russians Salizhan Sharipov and Yuri Shargin and American Leroy Chiao, docked with the station at 8:16 a.m. Moscow time (0416 GMT), just over 49 hours after lifting off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Thursday."
Padalka and Fincke were preparing the ISS for the docking of the first European cargo spaceship Jules Verne, says Mosnews.
The picture shows Padalka, Fincke, Dutch physician Andre Kuipers, Russian astronaut Aleksander Kaleri and American Michael Foale on board Soyuz TMA-4 in April.
Padalka and Fincke replaced Kaleri and Foale, who returned to Earth in the company of Kuipers who spent 11 days in orbit, conducting experiments, adds Mosnews.
