$1.7 billion ASCAP RMLC deal
p2pnet.net News:- The just concluded $1.7 billion agreement between the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers ASCAP (ASCAP) and the Radio Music License Committee (RMLC) is the largest single licensing deal in the history of American radio, say the two organizations.
It provides stations with performance rights for ASCAP music over the air and, as part of a simultaneous stream of their “over-the-air” signals from their Net web sites.
The agreement finalizes license fees for 2001-2003 and establishes new ASCAP licenses for 2004-2009.
“The negotiated settlement replaces revenue-based license fees with a set payment schedule for the stations that will provide significant guaranteed income to ASCAP composers, songwriters and music publishers,” says ASCAP.
