p2pnet.net News:- Apple says it’s unveiled the "Fastest, Most Affordable iBook G4 Ever".

Does that mean the others weren’t that affordable?

Just kidding. Or maybe not.

Anyway, planning to cash in on all the wonderful PR generated by iPod, Apple says starting at $1,000, its iBook features built-in AirPort Extreme, 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 processors and SuperDrive for burning DVDs, as well as iLife ‘04 suite "for managing digital music and photos, making movies and music and creating professional-quality DVDs".

Pro-quality DVDs, eh? With copyright owner permissions, of course.

The 4.9 pound1.2 GHz PowerPC G4 iBook has a suggested retail price of $999 and includes:

• 12.1-inch (diagonal) active-matrix TFT display
• 256MB DDR SDRAM expandable to up to 1.25GB maximum memory
• 30GB Ultra ATA hard drive

The 5.9 pound 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 iBook has a suggested retail price of $1,299 and includes:

• 14.1-inch (diagonal) active-matrix TFT display
• 256MB DDR SDRAM expandable to up to 1.25GB maximum memory
• 60GB Ultra ATA hard drive

There’s a third version at $1,499, but the specs seem to be the same as the $1,299 model, except one has a screen described as ‘brilliant’ whilst the other is merely ‘crisp’.

All three models have a slot-load Combo (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) drive, VGA video out, S-video and composite video out support, two USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet (10/100BASE-T), FireWire 400 and AirPort Extreme 54 Mbps 802.11g wireless networking;
