The laptop I use was forfeited as part of the criminal conviction of a hacker. BREIN represented the injured party. Of course we abide by the law, we can hardly ask others to do the same if we wouldn’t.

Thanks for letting us know Kuik’s office isn’t really chock full of dodgy items.

But somehow, it’s appropriate his laptop is made by Sony, given that Sony is both a member of the Big 4 music gang and a Hollywood studio, and that it also makes excellent, easily concealed camcorders, as well as other gear.

The quote is correct but but used as metaphore for this type of thinking

I hope I can clear things up a bit.
The article refers to a small section from Elsevier magazine in which people tell about the electronic equipment they use.
Tim Kuik says the following about his laptop: ‘A very nice laptop. It was once confiscated from a hacker. I’d rather not give any more details, keeping in mind the people we generally deal with as a copyrights organisation’

The GeenStijl article basically goes on about Tim Kuik being a thief himself, because he apparently takes confiscated goods that are supposed to be state property for his personal use. They then insinuate that Kuik’s whole office might be full of stolen goods and give some fictional examples (desk, Blackberry etc.).

He admitted the laptop in elsevier magazine (respected magazine), geenstijl (no style/class, a weblog) usually has a writing style where they extrapolate a signle event and speculate/redicule the people they write about. so his chair isn’t really from a napster user but ‘it could be’ his desk isn’t really from a newsgroup admin ‘but it could be’ etc etc etc they usually still bringing up a valid point though, when the police confiscates thing they get auctioned but brein aparently is allowed to keep / use thats whats taken?

It says that he will have the seized items delivered to his home where he will search through to find stuff he wants. Things he doesn’t want is sold on or used as corporate gifts.
