Using Twitter ‘can make you dumb’

p2pnet news view P2P:- “Twitter can cause harm because it produces a stream of information every second with no opportunity to process or manipulate that information,” according to UK psychologist Tracy Alloway (extreme right).

And that’s bad for our brains, says PocketLint.

“Evidence shows technology which requires a short attention span – such as Twitter and short YouTube clips – is bad for our brains,” says the Daily Record.

Social advertising site Fa$ebook, on the other hand, “requires us to use more memory and information and makes us feel part of a social group, helps train our brains,” it has Alloway, who works at Stirling University, saying.

She’ll, “tell the British Science Association festival this week that our ability to remember and manipulate information is much more important to success and happiness than IQ,” says the storym adding:

“She says brain-training can help students improve their grades from C to B and increase their IQ by 10 points.

“But the ‘tyranny of technology’, with aides like speed dial so we don’t have to remember phone numbers, is making us dumber.”

  2. normal1515 Says:

Twitter makes you dumb? I don’t believe it.
You have to be dumb to use twitter in the first place.

  3. lando calrissian Says:

I will have to agree with normal1515 : “you have to be dumb to use twitter in the first place.” The short attention span claim Im not too sure about. I would be interested in seeing an academic report debunking said “evidence”.
