Apple launches EU iTunes
p2pnet.net News:- With news that the real-world p2p file-sharing networks are thriving comes other news that Apple has invaded the European Union with a version of its iTunes corporate music store.
Guess which story is being played up by the mainstream media?
The Apple store, currently in operation in the UK, Germany and France, will now try to sell Big Four record label cartel tracks for the US equivalent of about $1.27 (€0.99) per download to people in Austria, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.
The cartel recently extended its sue ‘em all anti-p2p war into Europe.
Apple today also says it’ll open an iTunes Music Store in Canada in November.
Oh joy.
The EU iTunes Music Store has a catalogue of 700,000 songs, boasts Apple.
In September, an average of 6,784,574 file sharers were online at any given moment, says Big Champagne. By October 15, the number was already at 6,729,430. And there are more than one billion music files moving around the p2p networks every month.
Apple’s downloads at an exhorbitant $1.27 don’t even feature in the real world of online music.
