French 3 strikes law passes. 4th, or is it 5th, time?

p2pnet news view Politics | Music | Movies:- Now we’ll see who’s really in charge —-

—- Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music; and, Time-Warner, Fox, Disney, Columbia, Paramount and MGM, with Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, corporate-backed singer Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, fronting for them.

—- Or the people of France.

Earlier today, “On behalf of the movie and music industries, [France is]  trying to implement so-called Three Strikes legislation under which the government will become a 1984-like corporate copyright police agency with ISPs acting as corporate copyright cops,” p2pnet posted.

Under it, ISP customers alleged to be sharing with each other online will receive two warnings to stop and if they don’t, they’ll have their accounts cut off.

Now, “The French National Assembly has passed a draft law that would allow illegal downloaders to be thrown off the net,” says the BBC, continuing »»»

The law was narrowly passed by 285 votes to 225.

The ruling majority UMP voted in favour but the Socialist Party has already announced that they will appeal to the Constitutional Court once again.

An earlier version of the bill was ruled unconstitutional and a compromise version was hammered out.

The Constitutional Court insisted that a judge rather than a high authority had to rule on the issue of whether to disconnect users.

But, the document will only be adopted, “if a commission — made up of seven senators and seven deputies — can agree a joint version in the next few days,” says the story.

Meanwhile, as we said in our first post, whatever happens, “there’s one vital reality Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music and Time-Warner, Fox, Disney, Columbia, Paramount, MGM are blindly ignoring, and that is:

“Even if the HADOPI law somehow passes, it won’t last.

“At the moment, online communities know what’s happening, but people without net accounts are largely ignorant of the kind of strokes being pulled by the entertainment cartels.

“But if HADOPI,  and its equivalent in other countries,  ever becomes official, the manoeuvring and dirty deals behind it will also become fully public.

“The results?

“There’ll be a lot happening in the streets. But it won’t be dancing — especially in France.”

Stay tuned.

Actually Adopi I did not maket it but this, assosiated with spectrial in sweden, led to a massive boycott .

The result? A catastrophic decline in sale not just of music but also of movies in the last 6 months. This is why the CEO of Sony music France had a big cow against the anti Adopi “activists” who he call thieves for having an opinion.

He claimed that the sale in French are way down compare to over places such as the US because people are downloading way more. Of course this is not true since the downloading rate in France is basically the same as it is in the US.

But hey he was for Adopi I and he is now for Adopi II! Go for it! This is what you call a dinosaur!

This one is hirsute. He need a shower a shaving an hair cut and a brushing.
