I have to replace mine twice. All I want is my money back for the 2nd and 3rd X-Box, Where do I sign up?

no this is a prevalent problem with early xboxes. disc cleaners do not work. the xbox was made using three different dvd drives from 3 different companies and the thompson drive is known to be faulty and readily give the dreaded “dirty disc error” microsoft charges a hundred bucks to “fix” it but i had it fixed by them only to receive the same problem within a month. its a problem with the drive. it affects only a fraction of xboxes out there since its pretty much limited to those who received the thompson drives. you can check out a bunch of sites selling replacement drive for these faulty thompson drives. the samsung replacements which are generally known to be of the best quality go for around 120 bucks online since you cant use just any dvd drive but a propriety drive that can read the signed xbox code. but ok, theres a warranty and why should microsoft be liable to pay anything right? well it is a fairly common problem and microsft support generally gives the same solutions as you i.e. try a dvd cleaning disc blah blah and it just doesnt work. microsoft should own up to the fact that they have a problem since it is widely recognized in the xbox community and take some sort of responsibilty and at least fix the faulty fraction of the units without charging a hundred bucks to fix it. i mean the xbox is retailing for $150 now so how do they come off charging their early supporters who are responsible to the sucess of the xbox a ridiculous amount for a repair they should make some kind of acknowledgement of and attempt to rectify. for the “fix” they apply, which is not a replacement of the drive, which i can personally attest to, the $100 cost of repair is ridiculous. they shouldnt get away with that.

People are so ready to sue someone and put off blame when something goes wrong. An Xbox is a piece of electronic equipment. Some parts of that are very sensitive even to dust and dirt. If it stopped playing disks he might think about taking better care of it or cleaning it with a dvd lense cleaner. What could you possibly sue for. The cost of an xbox? It just seems silly to me.

Your right, I’m guessing that there is either a RARE fault in the assembly of the system or the guy left his console subject to dirt and neglect.

the idiot who sued ms for his xbox that stoped working probally wasn’t even ms’s fault. He pobally didn’t take care of his xbox
