Swedish Wikipedia celebrity smears

p2pnet news view | P2PPolitics:- Actor George Clooney is a “communist amateur” and Swedish actress and comedian Nour El-Refai is a “feminist bitch”.

Who says?

The Riksdag, Sweden’s parliament.

A “pure smear campaign targeting a number of celebrities has been traced to parliament computers,” says The Local, going on:

“The revelations came as part of an investigation by TV8’s ‘Aschberg’ current affairs television programme into changes made to entries on the Swedish version of Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia.

“A total of 55 changes could be traced via IP numbers to computers housed in the Swedish parliament and at the offices of Swedish political parties.”

Aschberg also found most of the changes were made during business hours, says the story.

But celebrities weren’t the only ones under attack.

Reports that the Left Party’s youth wing, Ung Vänster, “had inflated their membership statistics have been removed no less than five times,” says The Local.

Information about Christian Democratic politician Ella Bohlin’s past membership in Livets Ord (’Word of Life’), a conservative evangelical religious organization, was deleted by someone at Christian Democratic party headquarters, and, “Someone from the Moderates has repeatedly removed information pertaining to liquor-soaked parties organized by the party’s youth wing, MUF, in an effort to attract new members,” it adds.

  1. Reader's Write Says:

These guys are not learning from Jim Prentice, are they?

  2. Scaramouche Says:

    They should have used Tor

  3. Patricia Says:

So these people use IPs traceable to their workplaces to edit crap into Wikipedia. And then some of them are passing laws to increase internet traffic surveillance, and/or supporting MAFIAA-sponsored crackpot anti-”piracy” moves within the Swedish society.

And they still want to convince us they know about the technology they talk about/legislate? Oh I feel so much safer now…
