Facebook folly
p2pnet news view | Crime:- There’s dumb like spilling coffee on your computer keyboard.
Then there’s dumb like breaking into someone’s house, going online and leaving details of your visit.
Or as the CBC puts it, “There’s harmless Facebook addiction, then there’s stupid Facebook addiction.”
Jonathan Parker, 19, of Fort Loudoun, Pennsylvania, was caught because while he was burgling someone’s home, “he stopped to check his Facebook account, and forgot to log out,” says the story, going on:
“The victim, a woman in Martinsburg, Pa., told police that she returned home to find signs that her home had been burglarized, and that two diamond rings worth a total of $3,500 U.S. were missing. The figurative smoking gun was found when they turned on the computer, only to find the burglar still logged on.”
The incident is the latest in a long list of dumb Facebook gaffs, says the story, adding, “who can ever forget the Bell Canada PR person referring to journalists as ‘lemmings’ in his status update.”
That was Bell Canada ‘Media Relations’ guy Jason Laszlo who on Facebook bragged about his ability to snow journalists with his network management bafflegab, calling them `lemmings`.
That’s Laszlo on the right wearing the parrot.
