Google Street View vs Switzerland

p2pnet news view Advertising | P2P:- Back in March, “If hordes of people show up with cameras at the address Google lists as 7 Cavendish Avenue, St Johns Wood, London, and start chipping bits off the gate as souvenirs, the people who live there will probably be wondering what the hell is going on,” said p2pnet when we exclusively revealed how Google managed to get Beatle Paul McCartney`s street address wrong.

Because of they’d gone looking for Maca at the address shown in Gargle’s Street View, they’d have been disappointed.

His Beatleness was further down the road.

McCartney didn’t like his house being featured in Garge’s Stree View ad-hook. So Google obligingly blacked it out.

However, ordinary people have to lump it. And even entire nations have a problem getting Grockle to live up to its claims.

Since Gargoyle began the ’service’ there’ve been thousands of complaints from around the world  from people who object to having their homes splashed across the net, and/or who felt the company’s claims that images were adequately fuzzed to prevent recognition were, well, fuzzy.

Switzerland joined the throng saying Gargle`s pictures violated privacy laws, by failing to obscure people`s identities”.

Google said it’d fix things up but, “Switzerland’s head of federal data protection has told Google that his country is still not sufficiently blurry on the Great Satan of Mountain View’s Street View service, despite the company agreeing to further obscure faces and number plates,” says The Register.

And as proof, it offers up a pic of the car the right — number plate easily visible — clipped from Google Street View.

p2pnet, in turn, went to Berne, courtesy of Google Street view, and snapped the shot of this gentleman.

Is he recognizable, do you think?

Stay tuned.

OH MY GOD! I CAN SEE A LICENSE PLATE NUMBER!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, I can go to my local mall and see hundreds of license plate numbers, or I can take a trip to some of the local adult video stores and see the license plate numbers of the cars there, but seeing it on the Internet makes it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much worse!!!!!!!!!!

Car thieves all over the world are probably packing their bags at this very moment so that they can travel to Switzerland and steal that magnificent car!

The person who owns that car will be left without a vehicle, they’ll probably get fired rom their job, lose their home and their family will leave them. Then they’ll take a gun and go on a rampage at their former place of employment, gunning down innocent bystanders before finalling turning the gun on themselves. Their children will need therapy and will probably grow up to be emotional wrecks who will become addicted to booze and drugs. Not to mention all the children who will be made orphans in the massacre.

Dozens of of lives will be destroyed, and all because Google didn’t blur this poor person’s license plate!

heh to the google shill above.

Or let us know when google snaps you coming out of the abortion clinic.

Or let us know when google films you as your G/F dumps you.

Or let us know how you feel about being caught picking your nose.

Or let us know when you are googlfied and they copyright your face.

“Let us know ehen you get caught at your mistresses house by google and then explain it to your wife :p”

I’m not married, but if I was, I wouldn’t cheat.

“Or let us know when google snaps you coming out of the abortion clinic.”

Being a guy I’d have no reason to go there for myself, however if I were going there to support someone I knew who was getting an abortion, I’d have no problem with people knowing that. It’s not like all the people on the street wouldn’t see me anyway.

“Or let us know when google films you as your G/F dumps you.”

The chances of Google snapping a photo at that exact moment are ridiculously low.

“Or let us know how you feel about being caught picking your nose.”

Why are you picking your nose out in public?

Its about the law. If the law doesn’t count for big comanies, i myself could end up wiping away some fortune 2000. Do we want that? No. So lets follow the law and blur those informations.
