Bishop Lahey named in orphanage scandal
p2pnet news view | Crime:- http://www.mountcashelorphanage.com/ is the url for a site headed up, MOUNT CASHEL ORPHANAGE, the institution in the picture.
Superimposed over it is a head-and- shoulders of disgraced Nova Scotia Roman Catholic bishop Raymond Lahey, who said he hoped “to never again have to deal with such reprehensible behaviour” after a $15-million settlement to people who, when they were children, were sexually abused by priests.
Lahey, who was in charge of the out-of-court deal, is now free on bail of $9,000 after he surrendered to police in Ottawa who charged him with importing and possessing child pornography.
But this isn’t the first time his name has come up during pornography allegations.

Says a 1989 CBC archives post »»»
Canada’s most infamous orphanage is closing its doors. For almost a century, the Mount Cashel orphanage in St. John’s, N.L. was a symbol of Christian charity. But by 1989, it has become synonymous with the terrible physical and sexual abuse inflicted on its residents by members of the Christian Brothers. In the wake of that scandal, the decision is made to finally close the site.
Now Newfoundland police have reopened their files into the orphanage, says the Chronicle Herald, quoting the CBC.
Shane Earle, “abused as a boy by some of the Christian Brothers who ran the orphanage,” told the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary that, “Bishop Lahey showed him pornographic images in the 1980s,” says the story, continuing »»»
In 1989, a Canadian Press report from the Hughes Inquiry into the sexual abuse of boys at the Mount Cashel orphanage mentioned an incident involving Bishop Lahey. Shane Earle testified he became violently depressed and tried to commit suicide after seeing something in the bishop’s home that deeply disturbed him. Mr. Earle began to speak about what he had seen when an inquiry lawyer, Clayton Powell, told him not to, according to the report.
When reached by telephone Friday, Mr. Powell said he could not remember that piece of testimony.
“I don’t recall (Bishop Lahey’s) name coming up at all,” he said from his London, Ont., home. “It’s a fair question, but to tell you the truth thinking about (what came out during) the inquiry, I just get depressed. It happened 25 years ago, and I’m sorry, but I just don’t recall.”
A spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Halifax said there are no plans to investigate the Earle brothers’ allegations against Bishop Lahey.
“If there’s any investigation that needs to be done it would need to be directed and addressed by the dioceses in the place where this is alleged to have happened,” Marilyn Sweet said. “Not by a church in the province of Nova Scotia.”
Lahey was returning to Canada on September 15, “when he was detained at Ottawa International Airport,” says the CBC, adding:
“Canada Border Services agents checked his laptop and found ‘images of concern,’ Ottawa police said in a release.
“Lahey was allowed to leave, but his computer and other media devices were seized. Police said a forensic examination revealed the child pornography.”
Royal Newfoundland Constabulary constable Paul Davis said yesterday investigators, “became aware of Earle’s allegation on Thursday ‘and we immediately began a review to determine if the information is accurate’,” says the Toronto Star. “Davis said police are reviewing records of interviews with Mount Cashel ‘victims and offenders,’ including Billy and Shane Earle.”
Lahey is scheduled to appear in court on November 4.

He’ll be fine. According to Roman Catholic propaganda, as long as he confesses his sins he’ll make it into heaven. Then again, if there really is such a thing as hell, I suppose a special place will be reserved for Raymond.

More and more people are speaking about their lives ruined by priests like these. There is no Anonymous movement yet, but it is just a matter of time before the movement is formed and the Roman Church follows Sc!entology.

Half of Hollywood is lining up to show support for Roman Polanski and his act of drugging, raping, and forcibly sodomizing a 13-year-old girl.
Yet for some reason Catholics seem to have zero tolerance when their own leaders engage in anything even remotely similar, and would rather throw them to the wolves.

“…for some reason Catholics seem to have zero tolerance when their own leaders engage in anything even remotely similar, and would rather throw them to the wolves.”
Are you kidding?!
The reason we have so many of these pedophile priests running around is because the CHURCH does everything it can to dismiss and ignore any complaints, and sweep the whole thing under the rug. Like your Hollywood example, the Catholic Church also tries to protect its own ass by sheltering its criminals, until the story gets so big they can no longer hide it. At that point, the Church then pulls the “180″ on the one is question (”throwing them to the wolves”, as you say), in order to give the appearance that they have no tolerance for such things and had no idea it was happening, thus covering their own ass again.
