French prez Sarkozy busted for pirating music
p2pnet news view Politics | Music:- France’s Le Canard Enchaine has, “busted French President Nicolas Sarkozy for pirating 400 copies of a DVD,” says the Huffington Post.
He’s pictured on the right with struggling corporate songstress Carla Bruni, his wife.
The two are overseen by an employee of joint sponsor Vivendi Music.
“If the story pans out, this would be Sarkozy’s second copyright infringement — and a major embarrassment for a President famous for his three-strikes-you’re-out, anti-file-sharing stance, says the story, adding:
“According to the paper, Sarkozy made 400 unauthorized copies of a 52-minute documentary starring the President himself, called A visage decouvert : Nicolas Sarkozy.
“PC World France writes that a proud Sarkozy wanted to distribute the documentary to diplomats at a conference (the “17eme conférence des ambassadeurs”), but the DVD’s distributor had only send 50 copies of the documentary.
“A few copies short? Pas de problem!
“The President’s office decided to make up for the difference by pirating a few hundred copies.”
Definitely stay tuned.
(Cheers, Marc)

The desperation is on the increase Jon. But Sunde is still the master!
Do you, Lennart Renkema, Peter Sunde and Oscar Swartz get paid to distribute crazy stuff or did none of you care to get the necessary education to be an unbiased reporter?

His is EPIC FAIL.
First he wanted to pay 1 euro to the band he pirated music from, now this.
Sarko, this is your second strike!

Parblue, in case you missed it, Jon has already said he provides biased reporting- because it’s not like the “professional” media doesn’t, anyways. Sometimes you have to balance the bullshit somehow, and conversely-biased reporting isn’t necessarily wrong.

The first tell that you have no idea what your talking about is you believe there is such a thing as an unbiased reporter. Ask any psychologist if there is anyone without bias. Reporters are only required to disclose their bias on true stories to be considered ethical, which Jon has done, repeatedly.
Maybe YOU should attend a few journalism lectures before you pass judgment.

You mean the desperation of the parasites at Vivendique Univers-sale, the world of intellectual dirtiness and criminal corruption?

I’d say something about how Sarkoszy is an inexcusably-stupid hypocrite, but that might sound “argumentative”

I read elsewhere (techdirt I think) that he also removed the publisher credits from the case art and had it replaced with his own, doesn’t that make this counterfeiting, a more serious crime, which could be brought by the police rather than a civil copyright breach?
Though I think 400 copies with art reproduction is far more than a civil breach anyway, but IANAL.
