Napster’s latest UK deal
p2pnet.net News:- Napster II may not be up to much, but you have to give its owners, Roxio-that-was, points for sheer determination in their grim fight to somehow stay in the game.
The latest effort in the UK is a deal with the Post Office to tout pre-paid download cards.
Apparently, the cards, with a code number for downloads, have been on sale in the Dixons chain since last month, “and now could be available from up to 16,000 Post Office branches,” says Revolution.
Punters will be expected to pay £20 (about $37) for a green, £20, two-month subscription card so they can “listen” to Napster II’s “library” during the period. Or, they can cough up £30 (about $55) for a blue card which’ll grant them permission to download and keep 33 songs, says Revolution.
Let’s see ——- that’s about £1.65 (more than $3) per, all up-front.
Nice one.
