Copyright has gotten ridiculous!

*All text of this message is covered by the KK (Kooky Kommons) license. You may read this post only on computer systems that have an "E" in their name. This rule is waved if you happen to be an attractive female, but only if you read it while nude (photographic proof will be required). In order to quote my message to reply to it, you must request a copy of the KK consent form, where you will describe exactly where and why you want to quote my message. This will then be reviewed and if approved, you will be sent an official approval form which must be signed and filed. Note that this covers ONE use of the message as a quote. If you intend to post it on more than one forum, you will need to apply for the multiple-use license. Also note that these licenese only cover its use as words on a computer screen, if you intend to print a copy of this message, you will need to apply for a publication license and sign a disclaimer that the message isn't being used for commercial purposes. If you intend to read the message to anyone, you must first apply for a public performance license. This is separate from the text-to-speech license, which applies if you need to have the computer or another device read the words to you. However, this license only applies if you have a legitimate need for such a use, like if you are blind and have nobody to read to you (who would of course need a public performance license). If you want to use a text-to-speech for other purposes, you will need a special permission license. Finally, if you intend to describe my message to anyone else, but not actually read it or recite it verbatim from memory, you will need to apply for a derivative works license, where you will descrive exactly how you plan to describe my message, to ensure that you are not taking it out of context. Note that approval time for all licenses is approximately one week, not including mailing times.

I wonder if they changed their attitude because of all the negative press?

If they really had a license issue, why react with such legal vigor? Why not explain the situation from the start? Why not go after the UK book shop, not the photographer? (If they did, there's no mention of it).
