MS staff stole $32.4M in software
p2pnet.net News:- Four ex-Microsoft employees from the Seattle-area have been charged with stealing software worth $32.4 million from the company.
“The allegations are the latest in an ongoing 2-year-old investigation into employee thefts,” says the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, going on:
“A complaint filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Seattle alleges that the four – Alyson Clark of Normandy Park, Finn Contini of Redmond, Christine Hendrickson of Bothell and Robert Howdeshell of Puyallup – conspired to defraud Microsoft and sell the company’s products for personal profit, in violation of federal law.
“The 33-page document also says that Contini and Howdeshell laundered money while participating in the conspiracy.”
The four ordered software available to Microsoft employees for free, then sold it to online software retailers, says the Associated Press.
“The complaint said the employees blocked managers from getting routine e-mail notification that the workers were ordering the software.”
Software Howdeshell, a project coordinator, and group assistants Clark, Contini and Hendrickson are accused of stealing included the SQL Server 2000, which normally sells for $15,000, and the SQL Enterprise Server 7.0, which sells for $29,000, says AP.
