‘Skinny’ Ralph Lauren model to sue Ralph Lauren?

p2pnet news view Advertising | P2P:- When we first saw the pic on the right, we thought it was a spoof.

How could anyone be that emaciated and live?

It’s a black mockery of starving people around the world and it deservedly attracted scathing editorials.

But it was apparently meant to represent an actual person — Filippa Hamilton, a Ralph Lauren model since she was 15, according to Associated Press.

Hamilton said her contract because wasn’t renewed because she was, “too large,” says the story, going on;

“Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. is contending that it dismissed Filippa Hamilton because of a contract dispute and that the photo was mistakenly released.”

She’s been, “looking for another job since she was let go in April,” according to spokeswoman Jesse Derris, who also says Hamilton hasn’t yet decided whether to sue.

“In a statement, the company said the ‘very distorted image of a woman’s body’ — Hamilton’s — was ‘mistakenly released’ ” and displayed in a Japanese department store, says AP.

(Cheers, RW)

    I too was very surprised to find out that pic wasn’t a spoof but an actual cover put out by Ralph Lauren.

    Amazing.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

    What spoof? I still see absolutely nothing wrong with this nice photo of a pretty girl – as I said several times in the earlier article here. What is the problem with everyone?

  3. Reader's Write Says:

    I’ve only seen girls like that being sent for their last vacation by the childrens wish foundation.

  4. Comeoncomcast (aka Andrew) Says:

    I think RLs head is getting too big for its body :)

    yes, I did! lol

    To each his own.
    Personally, if she were mine, I’d be terrified of splitting her in half!

    “Hamilton said her contract because wasn’t renewed because she was, ‘too large’…”

    Then which is it?!
    Either she really does look like that picture, or someone tried to draw attention how rediculous that “too large” statement was, by slimming her more than she already was (with PhotoShop).

    “In a statement, the company said the ‘very distorted image of a woman’s body’ — Hamilton’s — was ‘mistakenly released’…”

    So, again, which is it?!
    Either the image WAS distorted, or the girl’s body ITSELF was a “distorted image”, the latter of which would have yielded a legitimate reason for Lauren to not renew her contract – refusal to promote an UNHEALTHY image. Should that have been what transpired, I would commend Lauren for a rare, but encouraging rewakening of thought.

  6. eh what? Says:

    @Devil’s Advocate
    “refusal to promote an UNHEALTHY image”

    They are, and have been, promoting an UNHEALTHY image that has led to the deaths of children following in those footsteps.

    They even said so (not in so many words). They made that image and continue to make images similar to it.

    “It’s SeXy”.

  7. NO1UNO Says:

    Sorry guys, but its obviously a Photoshop job. The sad/stupid/disturbing part of this is some DUMBASS at RL released it to a store as an advert in spite of the obvious!!

  8. Reader's Write Says:

    IMHO, she’s quite a beautiful woman when not distorted beyond belief. I think they were damn fools for not keeping her under contract.

  9. WTF is wrong with you Says:

    “What spoof? I still see absolutely nothing wrong with this nice photo of a pretty girl – as I said several times in the earlier article here. What is the problem with everyone?”

    I hope you are a spoof. But, if you are not, go get some professional help.

    Alternatively, why don’t you move to Somalia where you can find all kinds of “pretty” starving/dying girls.

  10. Devil's Advocate Says:

    @eh what?…

    “They are, and have been, promoting an UNHEALTHY image that has led…”

    That was actually my point with my last sentence.
    “…I would commend Lauren for a rare, but encouraging rewakening of thought.”

    “IMHO, she’s quite a beautiful woman when not distorted beyond belief.”

    So, you acknowledge that the image we’ve been discussing IS distorted.
    That one image is what ALL OF US have been talking about in the first place.
    It still didn’t stop you from coming back a zillion times with “What’s everyone complaining about?”
    Frankly, I thought it was a sick joke on your part. (Still do, really, but I’ll play along…)

    I already looked at real pictures of her long ago and recently, and that’s why I knew the image was a PhotoShop disaster.
    Yes, she’s quite beautiful. (Still a little on the skinny side for my liking, but no more than the usual “industry standard” they keep promoting.) But that wasn’t the point we were all making here.

    The image we were all going on about was SICK.
    Either you see that without having to think about it, or you need to have your mental state examined.

    I just first entered this topic. Different RW, not the one you quoted. My thoughts were my own, can’t speak for the other guy. Of course it’s distorted. RL admitted it themselves.

  13. Reader's Write Says:

    What probably happened is this;

    Someone at RL probably made a comment about models being too big and one of their graphic designers probably said “We can fix that. We can make them as thin as you want” and then created the imageas an example, which was mistakenly sent out.

    Or…

    Someone at RL took issue with her for whatever the contract dispute was about and created the image which got released by mistake.

  14. Reader's Write Says:

    @rw above
    Nope.
    Purposely done.

    There is another now. see the “headlines” comments

  15. arti Says:

    that’s all kinds of fucked up

    That thought entered my mind right on the point of hitting the submit button.
    FWIW, apologies for that!

    Too bad some of you “Readers Writes” couldn’t at least number yourselves (i.e. “Readers Write369″).
    Sometimes they get mushed together in someone’s mind if the comments share certain statements.
