Michael Geist blog troubles
p2pnet news view P2P:- Michael Geist is at the same time Canada Research chair in internet and e-commerce law at the University of Ottawa, and Canada’s foremost online reporter of government chicanery when it comes to internet affairs.
His site, upon which many have come to depend, has been behaving in a peculiar manner over the last few days with long loading delays and white space where posts are normally found.
Has he been hacked? Is he the subject of a DOS attack. Or is he simply having technical problems?
Today, on the top right-hand side of an otherwise blank page, we see:
“Thanks for emails & tweets regarding my site being down. Dealing w/some hacking and technical probs.
“Should resolve soon.”
Stay tuned.

Usually hackers are all for the same ideals Michael Geist promotes. Someone must have been bought, those that share views counter to Geists views don’t strike me as the type to understand technology, let alone be able to hack.

Prof Geists search seems to be functioning not sure if its just google powered or something. Unless the pages are cached somewhere it seems his db is functioning.
Perhaps he hasn’t updated the CMS recently. Their are a variety of ways this could have happened. Not an expert but thought I would look into it.

I agree with Robert.

This just goes to show there is no substitute for Geist in Canada. Even forums are talking about it. They want their Geist!

Geist does a wonderful job at shooting down the content industry lobbyists every move.
Given how corrupt these lobbyists like Barry Sookman are, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them paying people to take his site down through any means possible.

“Given how corrupt these lobbyists like Barry Sookman are …”
Wash your mouth out Spike! (Or maybe wash your fingers since you were typing not speaking.)
Anyway, how can you say that ?!
You know they’re honest and God-fearing folk simply trying to get by in a hostile environment !
Cheers!

Looks like Mr. Geist has let his domain registration lapse, or someone has hijacked it. If you visit it at this moment it goes to some domain parking sight. “This page is parked free, courtesy of Lifelong E-mail”
