Firefox launch had problems

p2pnet.net News:- Firefox’s official launch gave Mozilla a few problems – not that it’s complaining ; )

Within hours of the browser’s official release, the Mozilla site was slowing and Firefox enthusiasts were making use of the Google cache of download mirror sites, says Netcraft, pointing out that the list was also posted to slashdot to help ease the traffic burden on the Mozilla.org site, hosted by Meer.net.

In the meanwhile Opera, which with Firefox is a challenger to Microsoft’s ailing Internet Explorer, is reporting troubles it’s not happy about.

It’s posted a third-quarter loss, triple that of the same period a year ago, something the Olso-based company said was partly due to a significant increase in operating expenses as well as the weak dollar, says E-Commerce Times.

“In its posting yesterday, Opera reported a seven-fold increase in revenues from its popular Web browser in its third quarter. Browser sales reached US$1.7 million for the quarter.”
