Largest digital pic in the world

It’s a tiny (and we do mean tiny) section from the largest digital photograph in the world, made by TNO TPD, part of the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research.
The complete TNO pic shows Delft and surroundings from the top of the Electrical Engineering faculty of Delft University, at a height of about 100 meters (slightly more than 328 feet).
With 2.5 billion pixels, if the photo were printed it would measure 6.67 m X 2.67 m (300 dpi) – almost 22 feet long and close to nine feet tall.

and I thought they used one super duper high tech digital camera
and just went click…
I mean if they stitched a ton of images what is the big deal…
just need a lots of time and a good computer…
