The industry has been scamming people for years by over pricing music and forcing consumers to buy formats that they might not have needed or wanted (2 good singles on an album of 12-15 songs??) while they rake in profits. This is now the backlash from their profit mongering, people now have more choice and will vote with their wallets what THEY beleive is value for money, hence the rise in single downloads. But the majors cannot enjoy the luxuries of the control they have had previously and they are now crying about it. Its the great rebalance, back to the days of good quality, talent, driven music. Down with the X factor corporate conveyor belt pop machine!

I guess the Christmas period this year will be a test of the music industry. If the music industry makes money, then the recession is definitely over.

If the record business had it's way, there would be no ipods and no digital downloads - certainly not DRM-free ones. How ironic that paid downloads exploded after DRM was removed, disproving their long-held insistence that removing DRM would create massive "piracy" and severely hurt sales.

As with the VCR a generation earlier, virtually every technology Big Media fought so hard to suppress becomes their major source of profit.

Has this industry ever been right about anything?

BPI boss Geoff Taylor has no clue at all. He never will. Even if so-called "illegal filesharing" was stopped does he really think people are going to return to the days of blindly buying songs and albums? If so, he's an even bigger fool than he appears to be.

If there was any justice the corporate parasites will be in prison right now and not just from the music industry.

If this unjust situation persist the consequences for the corporate parasites will eventually become catastrophic.

No justice no peace.
