UMG’s new ‘digital’ label

p2pnet.net News:- One of the Big Four Music cartel members, Universal Music Group, has today launched what it describes as the world’s first all-digital download label from a major label.

Called UMe (ummm? oomee? umee? YouMeE?), it’ll distribute individual songs, EPs and full-length albums exclusively online to “all of the top online retailers and music services” …

… and you know what that means. All the plastic corporate music sites backed, supported and supplied by UMG and its partners in crime, EMI (UK), Sony-BMG (Japan, Germany) and Warner (US).

And you know that’ll also mean the usual dollar-a-go rip-off for mp3 (NOT CD quality) tracks.
