Deepnet phishing phoiler
p2pnet.net News:- With all the attention generated by the Firefox –vs- Microsoft David and Goliath battle, it’s easy to forget the other browsers out there.
But they’re around and one such is Britain’s ad- and spyware free Deepnet Explorer, a web, p2p and news aggregation browser built on the IE engine that lets you surf, share and download Gnutella files, and check out your rss sources, all at the same time.
Now, say its makers, the latest version will be the first to foil phishers when it’s released on December 1.
“Phishing sites are usually doctored versions of an organisation’s legitimate Web site,” says the company, going on:
“Victims are often lured to the sites using sophisticated emails and many are fooled into disclosing online passwords, user names and other personal information.”
Surfers being targeted by phishing scams will be automatically alerted via the internet’s first ever cyber Phishing Alarm built into the new Deepnet V 1.3, it promises.
But there’s a But, and it’s called Internet Explorer, plagued with what are colloquially referred to as ‘security vulnerabilities’.
And Deepnet is on the IE engine. So isn’t that something of a drawback? – we asked the company.
“IE’s HTML rendering engine is the only common component that Deepnet Explorer shares with IE,” says spokeswoman Anneli Ritari.
“Most of security flaws found so far are largely in the IE Application, not in the HTML Engine. That’s why we consider Deepnet Explorer to be a more secure browser than IE.
“We’ve also developed enhanced security features which we believe contribute to making Deepnet one of the most secure browsers on the market.”
Ritari also says Deepnet is less likely to be targeted by hackers than certain other browers because it’s small.
What are the other security measures?
Deepnet Explorer cannot be hijacked
To protects your browser from being ‘hijacked’ by hackers or unauthorized third parties, Deepnet Explorer is designed not to support IE’s browser helper objects (BHO) and browser plug-ins. BHO and Plug-ins can easily be exploited and used by spyware, adware and viruses. As a matter of fact, most spywares are either BHOs or plug-ins. For instance, a recently discovered virus names BankHook.A exists as a BHO.
Popup Killer
The built-in Popup Killer not only intelligently blocks annoying popup adverts, it actually also adds a layer of security. It is not unknown that some virus and spyware are embedded inside popup windows.
Page Filter
Deepnet Explorer has also a built-in page content filter that enables you to block out websites and pages that you do not trust or wish to receive, such as flashes and banners.
Page Control
ActiveX and Java Applet are other channels that can be exploited by spyware and virus. ActiveX applications can automatically install themselves onto users’ PCs if the security level is set to low and many spyware are found to use ActiveX to trick users into installing itself onto user’s PCs. With Deepnet Explorer, you can use the Page Control feature to stop prohibited ActiveX Controls and other security risks.
Cookie Manager
Keeping track of cookies before they keep track of you is one of the most important strategies to protecting your privacy. Cookie Manager gives you complete control over which cookies you allow and which ones you block before they are put on your computer.
Download Deepnet here. Users downloading it before Phishing Alarm is introduced on December 1 will be automatically offered free upgrade as soon as version 1.3 goes up.

Have used this browser for several months. Found it to be the best and lives up to everything said.
It is now my default browser.
