Copyright Watch site now online
p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- Copyright is dying. But as with many other hold-overs from the last century, vested interests have vested interests in maintaining for as long as possible the pretence that it’s still relevant.
Now the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), Electronic Information for Libraries (eIFL.net), and “other international copyright experts” have launched Copyright Watch to “centralize resources on national copyright laws at www.copyright-watch.org“.
It’s the first comprehensive and up-to-date online repository of national copyright laws, says the EFF.
“To find links to national and regional copyright laws, users can choose a continent or search using a country name,” it says adding:
“The site will be updated over time to include proposed amendments to laws, as well as commentary and context from national copyright experts. Copyright Watch will help document how legislators around the world are coping with the challenges of new technology and new business models.”
Funding to create Copyright Watch was provided by the Open Society Institute, it says.
