Steer Clear of IE, Finns told

p2pnet.net News:- A national government has warned its citizens to steer clear of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser.

The Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA) says people should avoid IE until Microsoft has patched the Bofra vulnerability, states ZDNet UK.

Bofra-A was first thought to be localized in the UK.

It infects PCs via banner ads which take victims to other sites which then download malicious code.

“We’ve advised the Finnish people to avoid use of Internet Explorer until a patch is released,” Arsi Heinonen, information security advisor for FICORA, is quoted as saying by ZDNet.

“[The vulnerability] is widely exploited and there’s some malicious software for it. It’s a high risk we think. If people can use another browser until the patch is released, that’s good.”

How long will it be until Bill Gates or Steve Balmer take a page out of George W. Bush’s nonsense and label Finland an axis of cyber evil?
