Apple relents over Xmas mp3

p2pnet.net News:- Apple has relented.

It’s dropped its Bah! Humbug attitude over the latest Band Aid Christmas special and agreed to release it on iTunes.

All of the corporate music download sites had agreed to sell the mp3 for £1.49 (about $2.80). All of them except Apple, that is, which said it wasn’t willing to peddle the single for more than its usual rip-off 79p (about $1.50) per download.

Apple now says it’ll have the song on Itunes at 79p and will donate the balance for each mp3 downloaded to Band Aid.

Band Aid wants £1.49 (about $2.80) for the tune with X percent of that going to help people in Africa.

The producers, songwriters, performers and record label are all named in detail, but the beneficiaries aren’t. Nor does the Band Aid site say how much of the money raised will actually reach those its meant to help, and how much will go on expenses.

  1. Reader's Write Says:

That’s the problem you face with charities.

What exactly goes to the people in need?

It’s not just a matter of the amount of money spent,
since there’s other ways to siphon off money,
like a company selling lots of items and making lots of profits.

If they don’t even say who the people in need are
it might just be a big scam.
