Recession hits BSA ‘Rat out your Boss’ plan
p2pnet news view | Off Topic:- Christmas is coming and everyone, everywhere, is hurting because of the George W. Bush recession —-
—- including the (Business Software Alliance) BSA.
In 2006, “residents of US president George Bush`s home state of Texas can earn, “cash rewards of up to $200,000 for qualifying software piracy reports starting May 1 through June 30,” p2pnet quoted the Dallas Business Journal as stating.
But, “While we are pleased that Texas continues to be one of our top states for leads, we are concerned as this suggests a large amount of piracy is taking place in the area,” it had BSA “director of enforcement” Jenny Blank saying woefully.
The same year, “Want to earn $36K?” – asked a p2pnet post, pointing out to qualify, all people had to do was rat out their bosses.
That was over in Britain and the $36,000 bribe was for, anyone who informs on employers who use illegal or unlicensed software, said CNET News.
However, that was then, and this is now.
In 2009, Britons willing to shaft their bosses boss will get only about $33,000 (and that’s rounded up).
Many cash-strapped employees are willing to supplement their earnings in the run up to Christmas by reporting illegal business practices, and the affects of the recession are making them even more likely to expose corporate wrongdoings, CBR Online has BSA UK Committee Alyna Cope stating.
London businesses should take note and make every effort to ensure that their software licensing is up-to-date.
Ahhhhhh. The BSA Christmas spirit.
Doesn’t it make you warm all over?

I don’t care how much I would hate my boss, I would not report him or her to these vultures unless of course my employee was a government agency.

Yet another reason to go to Linux in the office if you can. Even if your company is licensing it’s copies of MS junk, on hundreds – thousands of computers mistakes and shortcuts are frequently made when it comes to entering license keys.
I think the biggest prob for corporations adopting Linux is that they are often married to the proprietary software that has been written for them, which is often Windows only. There are probably business opportunities out there for custom software outfits that can provide cross-platform development so even if a company wants to keep running Windows for now, they can transition to Linux yet keep the same familiar software. I know a lot of Point Of Sale stuff falls into the Windows-only trap.

“because of the George W. Bush recession”
Just when I start to think that you might be a worthwhile site, you go and throw your own political bias into things. One of these days, you might figure out that people don’t come to this site to hear your partisan opinion. They come to this site because it is the best place to get information about copyright and p2p. If you would keep your partisan finger pointing out of thing, because not everyone agrees that Bush caused the mess we are in, this site would really kick ass.
