Cocaine – legal in New Zealand
p2pnet news view | Off Topic:- You can buy Cocaine in New Zealand without getting arrested.
It’s a ‘dietary supplement’ and it’s “Like Red Bull or Rockstar Energy Drinks x10!!” – boasts the pusher who, according to FoodWeek, states in a New Zealand outdoor ad »»»
Warning: This message is for people who are too stupid to recognize the obvious. This product does not contain the drug cocaine (duh). This product is not intended to be an alternative to an illicit street drug, and anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.
However, “New Zealand’s advertising watchdog says it does not have the power to prevent a company from naming its product Cocaine,” says the story. “The Advertising Standards Authority said it could not act on complaints because New Zealand law made it permissable to name a product after the drug.”
But that’s not the way it is in Scandinavia.
“The Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket) has wasted no time in condemning the planned launch of a new energy drink marketed by a company from Helsingborg and trading under the name Cocaine,” says The Local, continuing »»»
“The drink, which has its origins in Las Vegas, Nevada, contains three times as much caffeine as its competitor Red Bull, a level high enough to cause mild caffeine poisoning, according to the agency.
“We haven’t got hold of any cans yet but we have looked at the ingredients on a number of websites,” said agency toxicologist Emma Halldin Ankarberg.
“The name is definitely questionable,” she added.
Nowhere on the can does Cocaine flag the fact that it contains 1,120 milligrammes of caffeine per litre, or 280 mg per can, placing it in clear contravention of an EU directive requiring the use of warning labels on drinks that contain more than 150 mg per litre.
“The Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket) has wasted no time in condemning the planned launch of a new energy drink marketed by a company from Helsingborg and trading under the name Cocaine,” says The Local, also quoting a 2007 Los Vegas Sun story which said in part »»»
Cocaine – the drink – debuted eight months ago at New York Fashion Week, a harbinger of Kirby’s intent to make Cocaine chic by brand name alone.
Within three months Kirby rang up more than $1.5 million in sales, a noted success in an industry glutted with energy drinks – 191 brands and counting. Suddenly, he was a soda czar.
Controversy came quickly. The drink has been ripped off store shelves, seized from warehouses, banned in some places, protested in others and widely criticized for romancing teens with a logo that looks as if it’s written in white powder and its slogan: “The Legal Alternative.”
So, when the FDA announced that Kirby was marketing Cocaine illegally, selling it as an alternative to the street drug and as a dietary supplement, he chalked it up to yet another person not in on the joke.
But here’s why Kirby’s really laughing: In the two weeks since the FDA announcement, Cocaine’s online sales have quadrupled.
“It’s hilarious. We knew it from the beginning,” he said. “Our whole intention was to ride the controversy. We said it would help us sell drinks.”
So, “Kirby is ready for criticism,” the story said, adding, “he’s got about 100,000 cases of Cocaine stockpiled.
” ‘We are absolutely going to ride it,’ he said. ‘We’re going to ride it big’.”

i live in NYC and I can tell you, that stuff is notorious. It’s mostly known for it’s insane caffeine levels that can give you a heart attack and then start your hart back up. Personally, i stay as far away from energy drinks as I can. There’s definitely going to be a delayed effect from these things that is going to kick in soon.
