p2pnet Twitter hack: poetic justice
p2pnet news view P2P | Advertising:- On Wednesday I learned I’d been inadvertently tweeting people who follow me on Twitter.
That’s currently about 1,396 souls.
“From the look of it, everyone who`s following me on Twitter got this message, ‘hey, is this you on here? check it http://dwarfurl.com/baf448â³’.
And variations.
Nor was this the first time.
Now it’s a case of Back at Ya! Because I’m being deluged with —-
—- “hey, i did this quiz thingy.. it’s cool.. get your iq” …
And variations.
But it was a tremendous relief to learn I’m not the only one to be hacked.
“Britney Spears’ Twitter profile was again seized by hackers,” said The Register recently. “Pop-savvy malefactors broke into her account to post a message apparently suggesting the troubled pop star had sold her body and soul to Satan in the hopes of speeding up the apocalypse,” it said.

It’s affecting lots of other people too. I just unfriended my cousin in Facebook because he was spewing tweets — seems the problem is related to those Twitter accounts linked to Facebook accounts, where those Facebook accounts are using some kind of game application. My guess is that the game application, which can access all the personal info you give it on Facebook, has hijacked the Facebook-to-Twitter API.
I like getting my P2Pnet news fix throughout the day, but could do without Twitter.
Jon, have you considered using http://identi.ca ? Open Microblogging, with a “Connect” link to Twitter…. Hope to see you there!

@Jon: Posting headlines to Twitter is a great use for it. I don’t do much more than that myself. As a person-to-person communications tool, microblogging is not very good.
If you’re using something like http://twitterfeed.com/ to send your blog posts to Twitter, you can feed Identi.ca just as easily.
