p2pnet.net News:- Speaking literally, Blog is a, “noun [short for Weblog] (1999) : a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer”.
So says the Merriam-Webster site.
But to increasing numbers of people around the world, it means a way to express themselves – to say what they think about matters that are important to them. And to communicate directly and instantly with their fellow human beings.
So it’s not surprising to discover it was Webster’s the most requested online definition this year.
The other nine ‘winners’ in the dictionary site’s Top Ten were:
- incumbent
- electoral
- insurgent
- hurricane
- cicada
- peloton : noun (1951) : the main body of riders in a bicycle race
- partisan
- sovereignty
- defenestration

I prefer defenestration in the meaning of:
The act of completely removing Micro$oft Windows from a
PC in favor of a better OS (typically Linux).
Although the original “An act of throwing someone out of a window” is good.
