$98 flashy iPod?

p2pnet.net News:- Is a reasonably priced, ‘low end’ iPod with flash RAM storage instead of a hard drive in the offing?

Rumours abound and as iPod Hacks says, a recent Macworld UK article has added to the fire.

It goes on: “The British site Evening Standard ran a story which reports that the rumored flash RAM-based iPod may cost as little as £51 (almost $98) – and shortly thereafter pulled the story from their site…. They cited a recent MacMind article, which tells of a ‘virtually indestructible’ new iPod on the horizon with a flash storage capacity of 256MB (~65 songs) to 1GB (~250 songs), as their source for this information.”

MacMind says it’s not known in the Mac world as being the source of intel on the latest Apple products. Nonetheless, “through an anyonmous [sic] tipster (to you! We happen to know this person is 100% valid), we’ve been tipped off to a whole bevy of facts about the new Flash-based iPod from Apple," it says.

"We also had this confirmed by a second contact at Apple.”
