Google Countdown Clock mystery solved

p2pnet news view | Advertising:- p2pnet is able to reveal exclusively the purpose of the mysterious ‘countdown clock’ which ticks ominously forward when one clicks the ‘I’m feeling lucky’ tab on Google search.

When it reaches ‘zero’ Google will donate all profits it accrued after expenses during the year to a special fund.

Millions of people around the world face starvation and death because of droughts and armed conflicts, and now Do No Evil Google will …

Just kidding.

We have no idea what the ‘I’m feeling lucky’ thingy is for in the first place, and we have no clue what’ll happen when the clock reaches zero.

However, “It appears that the blue numbers are only visible to people using the search giant’s English language portals such as Google.com, Google.co.uk, Google.ie and Google.com.au,” says the Telegraph.

“Attempting the same trick on Google’s French and German websites presents an error box instead.”

Ah, Gargle. What would we do without thee?

  1. Blanchimont Says:

Converted to days (current number of seconds left (~141200, google.com)) gives ~16,3

That together with the days gone of this month, it should hit somewhere around New Year. Coincidence?

  2. Jon Says:

^^ Then what? Google turns into a pumpkin?

    heh

    Cheers!

  3. The Joker Says:

^^ Nah, Google’s new AI program takes over SKYNET in England.
Everyone’s computers that clicked on the “I’m Feeling Lucky” link gets infected by SKYNET and presents the message “Well, do you feel lucky punk? Well, do ya?”.
By the year 2032, everything will be gone…

    hehe
