Finland’s Finreactor raided
p2pnet.net News:- Thanks to a little help from the Finnish clone of Big Music’s RIAA, Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation (Keskusrikospoliisi) has shut down the Finreactor site, one of the largest pages in Finland to list BitTorrent links.
The Keskusrikospoliisi raided admins’ homes today and seized computer equipment and storage media, says Afterdawn, going on:
“The site itself has been down since early hours of today.”
Finreactor had more than 37,000 registered members and, “links to more than 6,000 pirated releases on BitTorrent network,” says Afterdawn, adding:
“Additionally, the forums of the site boasted a large number of links to releases in other P2P networks, most notably in eDonkey network.”
The Keskusrikospoliisi apparently acted after receiving a request from Finnish copyright associations, including the BSA and Teosto (the Finnish equivalent of RIAA – Recording Industry Association of America).
(Thanks, Johan ; )

I prefer the word “cabal”
(n 1: a clique (often secret) that seeks power usually through intrigue [syn: faction, junto, camarilla] 2: a plot to carry out some harmful or illegal act (especially a political plot) [syn: conspiracy] v : engage in plotting or enter into a conspiracy, swear together; “They conspired to overthrow the government” [syn: conspire, complot, conjure, machinate])
instead of the word “cartel” even though cartel is probably a more accurate way to describe the music & movie industry.

I’m from Finland. This is huge piece of news among students like me. I think this will be on the TV news today. The raid was made to the site’s admin’s home and I heard he was only 18.
