New Toshiba 80-gig hard drive
p2pnet.net News:- Toshiba says it has the world’s first hard drives based on perpendicular recording, a breakthrough technology that sets new benchmarks for data density, boosting the capacity of a single 1.8-inch hard-disk platter to 40 gigabytes.
The new technology is featured on the MK4007GAL HDD, a 40gb into a drive only five millimeters thick, and the MK8007GAH, with 80gb, “the largest capacity yet achieved in the 1.8-inch form factor,” boasts Toshiba.
It says it plans to start mass production of the 40- and 80gb drives in the first and second quarters of next year.
