iTunes sells 200 millionth song
p2pnet.net News:- Apple says its iTunes music store has sold 200 million songs.
And by a remarkable coincidence, the 200 millionth song was by none other than Apple’s favourite promotional partners, U2.
“We’re thrilled to be making music an even more popular gift this holiday season with iTunes and iPod,” says Steve Jobs.
Honest. We’re not making it up. It’s in a press release.
In the meanwhile, 99.9 percent of music lovers are using the p2p networks for their music fixes while they wait for the Big Music record label cartel to wake up to the fact that they’re not going to fork out a ridiculous dollar, and more, for one low-fi mp3 from iTunes, or any of the other cartel-backed corporate sites.
Sooner or later the labels will figure out that if they want to continue having their cake and eating it, they’ll also have to start offering downloads from complete catalogues, and at fair and reasonable prices.
And while they ponder, they should bear in mind that file sharing is increasing, their efforts to crush it notwithstanding.
The average number of people simultaneously logged on to the p2p file sharing networks at any given moment increased from 6,255,986 in October to 7,452,184 in November, says Big Champagne.
Over the same period the number of users on p2p networks in the US went from 4,435,395 to 5,445,275.

No thanks. I’ll stick with the free, and lossless (it’s all in FLAC!), album downloads I found recently. Pay for crappy quality and become locked in like an idiot, a thing to be milked by an industry who sees you only as an ignorant cash cow, or help “the movement” by downloading all the best stuff at high quality (with no DRM!) for free, which can be easily transcoded to any lossy format you want for your portable audio player. Is there even a choice there? If the RIAA wants a war, and wants to claim it’s losing tons of money, then we might as well oblige them by turning their lies into truth. If I’m going to be damned by them either way, it might as well be for a good reason.
