Singer Feliciano protests ‘Feliz Navidad’ parody Associated Press
Grammy-winner Jose Feliciano has gotten an apology after accusing a pair of radio producers of trashing the spirit of Christmas by using his popular holiday song, “Feliz Navidad,” for a racist musical spoof about undocumented immigrants. Feliciano released a statement Wednesday saying that he was “revolted beyond words” and that the song was never meant to be “a vehicle for a political platform of racism and hate.” “When I wrote and composed ‘Feliz Navidad,’ I chose to sing in both English and Spanish in order to create a bridge between two wonderful cultures during the time of year in which we hope for goodwill toward all,” the Puerto Rico-born singer said. The parody, titled “The Illegal Alien Christmas Song,” was created by radio producers and writers Matt Fox and A.J. Rice and was posted in mid-December on the Web site for Human Events, a Washington-based conservative weekly publication founded in 1944.
Hulu, Warner Music Sign Deal for Music Content PC magazine
A month after signing a deal with EMI for music video content, Hulu has reached an agreement with Warner Music Group to add its content to the video site as well. The deal will allow Hulu to post music videos, artist interviews, live concerts, and behind-the-scenes footage from artists on WMG labels like Atlantic Records, Rhino Records, and Warner Bros. Records. Hulu has already posted footage from Muse, including video from the band’s recent appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” as well as content from its shows at Wembley Stadium, interviews, and older music videos. In the coming weeks, Hulu will also add content from Jason Mraz, Fueled by Ramen, and Paramore, with more artists expected in early 2010.
Italy drops plans for Internet crackdown Associated Press
Italy has abandoned plans to crack down on Web sites inciting hatred or violence — a proposal floated after an attack on Premier Silvio Berlusconi earlier this month drew some praise over the Internet. Groups and videos praising Berlusconi’s assailant had appeared on Facebook and YouTube in the aftermath of the Dec. 13 attack, leading officials to mull a ban on hate sites. But Interior Minister Roberto Maroni said in a statement Wednesday that no measure would be taken by the government. Maroni, who held a meeting with Internet operators on Tuesday, said he favored “outlining a code of self-regulation that involves all parties and averts the intervention of authorities.”
BlackBerry Outage Sparks User Revolt InformationWeek
The second outage in as many weeks for Research In Motion’s BlackBerry e-mail service has prompted a mini-revolt among users. The Crackberry blog, which tracks all things related to the addictive device, on Thursday was flooded with complaints from users who said RIM is losing its focus on customer service. “One outage is bad enough, but when potential customers hear of two in one week, they get very nervous,” said a Crackberry forum member who goes by the name Furballz. “I’ve heard the name ‘Crashberry’ a few times today,” noted another member, Chrisy520.
Christmas chocolate thieves caught red handed The Local
While many a Swedish Christmas office party end in hangovers and bad judgement, the holiday revelry of one company from Växjö in southern Sweden ended with a night in jail after a chocolate robbery gone wrong. A group of drunken partygoers from Småland were discovered to be behind the theft of several boxes of chocolate from a store in central Helsingborg. Several witnesses saw five individuals take 16 Christmas baskets filled with chocolate, which were worth a total of 3,000 kronor ($415).
DNS Issues Cause Downtime for Major Sites Data Center Knowledge
Some of the web’s most prominent sites experienced downtime and sluggishness Wednesday night due to problems with DNS services. The issues were most pronounced at UltraDNS, which reported that its performance problems were caused by an electronic attack. The list of sites experiencing problems included Salesforce.com, Amazon Web Services and Walmart.com. DNS is short for the domain name system, which serves as a roadmap allowing users to find web sites. Domain registries like VeriSign provide centralized web lookups through a network of data centers, while commercial DNS service providers like UltraDNS offer additional tools to manage traffic.

That’s the link to hear The Illegal Alien Christmas Song. My advice. Don’t waste your time. I am not an illegal alien apologist by a long shot, but even I thought that the song was in poor taste, and not very funny at all. Even if it hadn’t been in poor taste, it would have fallen flat. Just not a very clever song.
I much prefer the “Police took my Car” parody.
