p2pnet.net News:- Symantec and VERITAS Software say they’re to merge in an all-stock transaction worth $13.5 billion, based on Symantec’s stock price of $27.38 at market close on December 15, 2004.
The new, combined company will operate under the Symantec name and John W. Thompson, Symantec ceo and chairman, will keep the same role in the new company.
Gary L. Bloom, Chairman, VERITAS president and ceo, will become vice-chairman and president.
The board directors of the combined company will include six members of Symantec’s current board, and four from VERITAS’ current board, says the former.
The transaction is expected to close in the second calendar quarter of 2005 and is subject to customary closing conditions, including approval by the shareholders of both companies and regulatory approvals, say VERITAS and Symantec.
