Picking up prostitutes in GTA

p2pnet.net News:- Picking up prostitutes is apparently a low-intensity move in Grand Theft Auto.

“You drive your stolen car by pedestrians and look for a woman who is ‘dressed stupidly,’ as Zach put it. ‘Then you pull up and wait for her to walk over and coo recorded pick-up lines, like, ‘I’ll show you a real good time, Paco’.”

Zack is Steve’s 11-year-old cousin, Steve being one of the people highlighted in a Saginaw News story on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

“But Steve’s prospective purchase ignored him,” the article goes on.

“She was turned off by the ‘crappy old Sabre’ he had stolen, Zach said as he took back the controller. The game’s hero, a character named Carl Johnson, subsequently abandoned the Sabre to steal another car.”

Carl has options when he steals a car, says the Saginaw News. “He can yank the driver out and beat him up, or he can shoot the driver and passengers.

“Zach chose the punch-out. Carl hopped over the battered driver and offered his consolation. ‘What can I say?” the computerized voice announced. ‘I’m a bad man’.”

Of course, there must have been some mistake. An 11-year-old couldn’t possibly have gotten hold of GTA: SA.

Its maker Take-Two (whose Rockstar Games advertises in a mag aimed at teenagers) swears GTA is meant only for grown-ups.

“I am a frequent user of Rockstar’s Manhunt,” said a p2pnet reader recently.

“I enjoy playing the game with its intense scenario and its ferocious fights. I am a big fan of Rockstar’s ‘Grand Theft Auto’ series also, which has similar game play compared to ‘Manhunt.’ By the way, just because I like these games doesn’t mean that I am a violent person.”

The poster said he was 15. But clearly, that must have been a typo.

Manhunt, whose hero likes ’snuff’ films, was banned in New Zealand and caused a major revision of video game sales rules in Canada.

Back to the Saginaw News, “The game [GTA: SA] also depicts killings in animated detail, giving the player an array of weapons and story lines to choose from. In one, you use a bullet-spraying remote-control airplane to murder a guy named Berkeley for giving Carl’s friend a wedgie.

“Zach’s mom, Linda, isn’t thrilled.

” ‘I had no idea; otherwise I wouldn’t have let him buy it,’ she said. ‘I thought, ‘It’s just another car game’.”

Obviously, there’s a mistake here, too. After all, how could an 11-year-old possibly have ‘bought’ San Andreas, which is for 18-year-olds and over?

“After his virtual crime sprees, Zach returns to a family he loves, nice friends and a street where the neighbor pays him $80 for pulling weeds,” says the Saginaw News. “He likes cops, pedestrians and all the other people he just shot,” says the story, adding:

“But prostitution? ‘It’s wrong!’ Zach finally protested with a gag. ‘Ugh!’ That’s why he didn’t want to even demonstrate that part of the game, he said later.

“Somehow, Zach felt more accountable for buying a girl than for killing her.”

In the meanwhile, good news.

So far, Rockstar sames have been available on Sony’s PlayStations.

But as of June 7 next year, it’ll also be on Microsoft the Good’s Xbox platform, and in Europe from June 10.

You poiss me off. You always pick on the negative parts of GTA.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

What’s the problem and all the “sarcastic quotations marks”. Kids see adult material all the time, whether it’s on TV, in the movies, on videos, in books, etc. No one is suggesting that the makers of such non-game material are responsible or such material should be banned just because kids might see it. Why do we have such talk where games are concerened and where the majority of buyers of adult games are adults?

  3. Reader's Write Says:

How is this relevant to p2p?

  4. Reader's Write Says:

Because according to the Riaa all p2p er’s are Whores and Pirates Thiefs Scumbags the worst of the worst of our social order!!!!

  5. Reader's Write Says:

what they failed to mention was when she didnt get iinto his old car he flattened her with it and left a nice blood trail with the wheels of his car – great family entertainment i think ;)

  6. Reader's Write Says:

Hey the game is violent and its NOT for kids…
so if their parents buy them the stuff who is to blame?
I really dont the reason for all these anti GTA articles on p2p…

The really important question this article raises:

Since when can an 11 year old earn *$80* pulling weeds for a neighbour?

Maybe the kid lives next door to a coke dealer and that’s the real problem?

For that matter, how else could he afford the exorbitantly priced console games of today?

  8. Reader's Write Says:

The Zach n his mom r both a bunch of ignorants. The game is rated 18 and zach was born just yestersday. I say that zach’s mom is just a bad and alcoholic mother.

you know what in case you didn’t notice,in san andreas you are actually encouraged to kill drug dealers, the grove street families are anti-narcotics also dealers give you like 2000 a pop. also the prostitution part is not really a main part of the game just a side thing that is not a mission or anything. it’s all bonus stuff not a real part ofthe game! i really do think that if anything should concern people it should be violence not sex. after all sex is a normal human FUNction. Murdering and running over people is not! it annoys me that parents are more concerned about their children seeing sexuality than people spraying each other with machine guns and slicing each other with chainsaws! that teaches kids that sex is bad but violence is aceptable!
