Domain name extension ‘could boost cyber-crime’ Times Online
The introduction of internet addresses in non-Roman scripts could offer fresh opportunities to cyber-criminals, experts have warned. Next year the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) will for the first time accept internet domain names in non-Roman scripts. The domain name is the part of a web address that precedes the ‘dot’, such as timesonline. The new internationalised domain names will open up the internet as never before to users whose native language does not use the Roman alphabet. But Roman-reading users face a possible deluge of phishing and e-mail scams.
Whoops! F.C.C. Chairman Spams Facebook Friends New York Times
Facebook scam artists have closed out 2009 by snagging a prominent victim: Julius Genachowski, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. On Thursday at around 10:30 a.m., Mr. Genachowski sent his Facebook friends this puzzling message: “Adam got me started making money with this.” It was followed by a link to a Web page that is no longer active. The message blitz indicated that Mr. Genachowski’s account had been taken over by a malicious program that was using it to send out spam. As of Thursday afternoon, Mr. Genachowski’s Facebook profile was no longer visible on the site. A Facebook spokesman, Larry Yu, said the company learned of the problem this morning and suspended the account, as it routinely does in such cases. An F.C.C. spokeswoman declined to comment.

Pedal-powered submarine to go on the market Telegraph
A pedal-powered submarine capable of diving up to 30 metres has been developed by a Russian company. The craft can be powered by two people with no specialist training and moves at about walking pace. The pedallers sit side by side in the craft, most of which is made from a special acrylic glass. Its designers say this will give occupants “spectacular underwater views”. Apart from two sets of pedals, controls are limited to a steering wheel and a few buttons to make operating the submarine as simple as possible. The sub was developed by Russian company called Marine Innovative Technologies Ltd (MIT) and is expected to cost £50,000 pounds although prices could drop to around £15,000 for bulk buyers.

There are too many times where people scream free speech to protect them the consequences of their slander but this is a clear case of screaming slander to trample on the free speech rights of others and to protect oneself from the public embarrassment that comes from getting caught photoshopping pictures for marketing purposes. The claim that the picture has not been photoshopped is ridiculous. Just look at the picture.
