New extremist attack on Muhammad cartoonist

Kurt Westergaard p2pnet news view P2P | Politics:-There’s been a new extremist outrage over Kurt Westergaard’s cartoon of the prophet Muhammad in Denmark’s Jyllands Posten.

A Somali axeman linked to al-Qaeda “broke into Kurt Westergaard’s home late on Friday night,” says the Telegraph.

The man was shot and wounded by armed police called in when Westergaard pressed a panic button, says the story.

He was “Rolled in on a stretcher before a Danish court on Saturday,” says the Gulf News, continuing he faces preliminary charges of attempting to murder the cartoonist as well as a police officer.

“The artist – 74-year-old Kurt Westergaard – was moved to an undisclosed location for his own protection after the attack at his home in Aarhus,” it says.

Somalia’s “radical Islamic Shebab group hailed Saturday the attack by a Somali on a Danish cartoonist reviled by Muslims for his drawing of their prophet Mohammed,” says Agence France-Presse, quoting Shebab spokesman Sheikh Ali Muhamud Rage as stating:

“We appreciate the incident in which a Muslim Somali boy attacked the devil who abused our prophet Mohammed and we call upon all Muslims around the world to target the people like (him).”

Almost two years ago, Westergaard, 73, was placed under police protection after receiving death threats.

“The newspaper has received bomb threats and its journalists have been subjected to ‘countless death threats’,” said Jyllands-Posten editor-in-chief Carsten Juste.

But, “This doesn’t change in any way my perception that we need to work against dark forces that want to fight against freedom of speech.”

Wanna’ fight back against these idiots? Post the photos. It’s been a while since they’ve been seen. Remind people. Spread them around. And if you’re creative, make some of your own, though I recommend doing so anonymously.

  2. Sukasa Says:

All hail the religion of peace?

  3. Reader's Write Says:

Most people around the world walk on eggshells so as not offend muslims. Either they’re afraid of what will happen, or they want to be politically correct.

Yes, not all muslims are violent fanatics, but as it is now, we all try to pretend that the muslim religion isn’t the problem, that a handful of fanatics are. The reality is that a significant portion of muslims ARE fanatics and this policy of playing nice with the muslim religion in general just allows the fanatics to increase their numbers.

Have we learned nothing from history? Religion has been the cause of more wars and more deaths than all other causes combined.

  4. RadialSkid Says:

“How dare they make cartoons accusing our religion of being violent! Let’s physically attack and attempt to murder them to prove them wrong!”

  5. Quartz Says:

Lets not become as knee-jerk and fanatical in our aims and deeds as the ignorant guy mentioned in this story, when people vocalise or depict something thats not exactly flattering of you or your beliefs it should be no excuse for murder or violence, this then is what we should be reciting and repeating to those who are mislead by religous fanatics, peaceful protest and peaceful acts are respected by peaceful people, violence is something only the lowest form of intellect turn to.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

Muslims who are so offended by a cartoon (or any criticism of their religion) need to get over their insecurities.
