Deathifier buys Treasure Island
p2pnet.net News:- “It is true, I (Deathifier) purchased the Treasure Island in Project Entropia for USD$26,500!”
Thus boasts Deathifier, 22, a member of the Dark Knights of Calypso, on his home page, talking about about his hard-cash acquisition of a piece of virtual property in the distant, virtual planet of Calypso.
You might think that’s a lot of money for un-real estate. But Deathifier is convinced it’s an astute buy because he’s a member of the MMORPG Project Entropi where, although the world is imaginary, the cash-flow is real.
Launched in 2003 by Sweden’s MindArk PE AB and now with more than 180,000 registered users, Project Entropia is an example of ‘massive multi-player online role playing gaming’ (MMORPG) in which players interact in a world of 3D virtual environments.
More to the point, however, “Project Entropia actively supports sales of virtual products with actual cash value within its real economy system,” says MindArk. “”The economy offers the user a secure and safe way to make purchases, sales and exchange real life currency into PED (Project Entropia Dollars) and back again into real money.
“PED allows members to invest in personal development and growth through the acquisition of goods, buildings, and land in the Entropia universe.”
And with Treasure Island came all taxation rights on hunting and mining as hundreds of members flock to the New World in search of fame and fortune. Literally.
The island also offers revenue potential through housing lots and market places, some of which have already been sold and claimed.
And Deathifier is counting his gains not in Sydney, NSW, Australia, where his physical persona hangs out, but in Nymphtown, Treasure Island, Calypso, where he’s a property magnate.
