Fake MPAA/RIAA eMule servers
p2pnet.net News :- The entertainment industry has taken its efforts to crush the p2p networks a step further by trying to swamp eMule.
Online scalp-hunter MediaCentry has set up fake eMule servers to try to try to trap file sharers, says Joseph Farthing in a Methlabs post which, though a month old, remains relevant.
MediaCentry is joined at the hip with both the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) and the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America).
“The servers, which were all hosted in the United States of America, were listed in a number of commonly used eMule server lists,” says Farthing, going on:
“Although it is not clear how the servers managed to slip past administrators, it is apparent that around 98000 people were using just one server before the problem was spotted.
The servers have been removed from many lists already, http://www.gruk.org/list.php and http://ed2k.2×4u.de/list.html are currently proven safe.”
Farthing says IP addresses confirmed as fakes include:
66.192.117.38

In eMule in Preferences->Security you can input a url to get a list to to filter ip address with.
Pick your favorite list file, for example from:
http://methlabs.org/sync/
like the Anti-P2P/Ads/Spyware/Govt/Mil list
http://methlabs.org/sync/guarding_plus2.p2p.zip
Put the url into the box and hit load.
Don’t forget to click the “Filter servers too” or you might still connect to them.
Or better yet, use the Kad network instead of servers.

set up 1000’s of fake p2p servers.
1000’s of fake users
This is ridiculous.Seems like alot of innocent, yes innocent, folkes are going to get screwed. There needs to be a national clearing house set up to take donations to fight this stuff once and for all. They flood us with fakes,we should flood them back.Bring this to a head and be done with this.A class action suit against MPAA/RIAA for unjust, illegal searches, false accusations and for being a big meany.Enough already.

Think that RIAA/MPAA should try to accept that dling is not goin to go away. Instead of ciminalising absolute everyone, they should try to encourage it and even help it develop. I’m sure they can still make money from it, vultures as they are, they can always find a way. The only reason put so much effort against it, is that they have no reason to overprice everything anymore. Shock, horror, they may have to make it a reasonable price.
