New Google Desktop warning
p2pnet.net News:- Google says it’s patched the security hole in its Desktop Search that could have revealed part of the content of personal files.
First reported by Rice University in Texas, it was said to be serious.
But, Gartner analysts Whit Andrews and Ray Wagner say even though Google quickly fixed the bug by rolling out an auto update, “Gartner still advises caution in enterprise deployment of this tool,” states Information Week.
First-generation local search tools from Microsoft, “and others,” should also be treated with caution, says the story, adding that they haven’t yet been adequately vetted for security.
