ISPs to block BitTorrent sites, says Italy
p2pnet news view P2P | Politics:- Italy is the latest country to put the interests of the corporate entertainment industry ahead of those of its citizens.
Italian judges can now order ISPs to block BitTorrent sites being used to “illegally disseminate copyright infringing content”.
And it won’t matter where they’re hosted.
“The judicial authority can now request that ISPs block access to The Pirate Bay and any comparable illegal p2p services,” crows Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music’s IFPI (International Federation of Phornographic Industry) .
The ruling follows the Supreme Court’s review of The Pirate Bay case “originally heard in the Court of Bergamo,” it says, adding:
“The Supreme Court ruled that sites that host torrent files play a significant role in the uploading and downloading process of their users and constitute a form of complicity in the execution of the offences.
“It further ruled it was irrelevant that the service was not operated in Italy or by Italian citizens as it was used by Italians to distribute copyright infringing material.”

And yet another country bows down to corporate music bullshit. I can see only one future coming from this, they (RIAA et al) FAIL, DIE, TITSUP, while filesharing goes even further into darknet/sneakernet and WE WIN see Gandhi quote above

The funny thing, which corporations like and support, is that indie artists and open source projects are also no longer available. That means you won’t have an easy way to find all the stuff people WANT to be out there for free!
Way to go Italy, you just killed culture and replaced it with corportization!

Not too surprised, considering the corruption and unfairness of Italy, which BTW is my native country, but moved out of that because in fact, as this event shows, at the time of the Romans Italy was probably better civilized and more fair.
You can tell from the moron that happens to be the prime minister that people dont count in there, only the interests of the big and rich ones do.
