eBay drops Microsoft Passport

p2pnet.net News:- Microsoft’s Windows are constantly open, letting in all manner of nasty bugs; the Europeans have decided Bill and the Boyz have to cut their Media Player from Windows and publish communications protocols; and, now eBay says as of the end of January, 2005, customers won’t be able to use Microsoft Passport.

“This means that members currently using this service will have to sign in through eBay directly,” says the company on its announcements board.

“Once this takes place, the Microsoft Passport button that is currently displayed on Sign In pages will be replaced with links to a page with more information, including Help in case you cannot remember your User ID or password.

“As part of this change, we will also discontinue sending eBay Notifications through Microsoft .NET alerts.”
