Google vs Goojje

p2pnet view P2P:- Google knock-off Goojje has surfaced in China , says PC Magazine, quoting the Henan Business Daily.

Interestingly, along with the Goo it has a panda foot in the logo.

Just like Chinese search engine Baidu.

Goojje’s creators are clearly using six of one and half-a-dozen of the other in a bid to score with potential users.

It went online on January 14, “as a search engine and provides social networking services”, says the story, adding:

The name chosen by the newcomer is a play on words. The final syllable ‘jje’ sounds like the Chinese word ‘older sister,’ while the ‘gle’ syllable of ‘Google’ is pronounced like the Chinese word for ‘older brother’.”

The Henan Business Daily is said to believe it was founded by a female college student.

  2. Eric Says:

Why would a college student found a business newspaper? :)

  3. JeremyTrylch.com/blog Says:

Goojje represents a shameless display of China’s disregard for ethics of any kind. The current Chinese attitudes and policies toward the western world are a recipe for the Neo-Dark Ages. And we happily skip toward it wearing our Made-in-China Bought-at-Walmart Nike’s.

sadly, youtubecn has been dismantled already. it was the last hope for a lot of us expats living and working in china to get all the cool stuff from youtube. grrrr.
