I switched to Firefox ( Loving it !) last night when I found out about all this. what made me act so quickly was that a couple of times this week my "HTML tools" helper popped up from nowhere when i was browsing. I have never seen this tool before in 20 years of surfing; I thought maybe it was because I was running into this hack the news is mentioning.
I really don't understand why Microsoft is so obtuse about consumer confidence in their product. It seems to me that they should be including firewall, virus protection, spyware, adware protection programs and popup blockers in their Windows systems, or at the very least in their IE. I realize that in the early days of Windows these things weren't that big of a deal, but now with all the online scams I read about they're on everybody's minds. Buying Windows or using IE these days is like buying a brand new car without a warranty IMO. Either spend a bunch more money just because you have Windows instead of any other operating system or you just have to accept that you are totally vulnerable and if something happens you're on your own. I thought Bill Gates was smart enough to realize how essential consumer confidence can be in the marketplace, but apparently not.

I use Mozilla Firefox. It's a great alternative to Internet Explorer. It doesn't have the flaws that IE does and has more features. It also goes faster than IE.
