Software pirate gets 18 months
p2pnet.net New:- A web page owner in Northern Virginia has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for distributing pirated software online.
Kishan Singh of Lanham, Maryland, pleaded guilty to a count of copyright infringement, says , says United Press International, going on, “The federal judge in Alexandria, Va., also ordered the forfeit of the computer equipment used in the crime.”
Singh ran a pay-for-access site through which he offered software altered by the removal of copyright protection devices, states the report, adding that Adobe, Autodesk, Macromedia and Microsoft programs were among those available.
“As part of the plea agreement, the United States and Singh agreed he illegally reproduced and distributed copyrighted software valued at between $70,000 and $120,000,” adds UPI.

This guy was_profiting_ by selling software that he didn’t have the right to sell. That is all wrong. Shareing is ”ok”, this was stealing.

I agree, profiting from distribution is TOTALLY different from sharing for free.
