Block The Pirate Bay, Italian ISPs ordered

p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music’s IFPI is well pleased.

“The Court of Bergamo in Italy has again ruled that ISPs should act to prevent their users from accessing The Pirate Bay,” it crows.

Last April p2pnet quoted PC World as saying Giancarlo Mancusi, a public prosecutor in the northern town of Bergamo, was “investigating The Pirate Bay’s founders for alleged violations of Italy’s copyright law, the first justice authority to take action against the Swedish Web site outside its home territory”.

Mancusi managed to get a court order in August 2008 blocking access from Italian ISPs to all Pirate Bay addresses, but the ban was lifted on appeal two months later.

Then in January,  Italy was the latest country to put the interests of the corporate entertainment industry ahead of those of its citizens, said p2pnet, continuing Italian judges could now order ISPs to block BitTorrent sites used to “illegally disseminate copyright infringing content”.

And it won’t matter where they’re hosted.

Now, “The Court of Bergamo heard the case again this week and in light of the Supreme Court’s judgment, ruled that all Italian ISPs should block their users’ access to The Pirate Bay,” says the IFPI, adding:

“The Italian Fiscal Police have notified all the ISPs with the order to block The Pirate Bay.”

So are they going to block proxies and VPNs as well? What a useless straw grasping waste of effort.

I really don’t waste my time with music files just application programs.
    Pirate bay is pretty cool.
