Big Music scores in Australia
p2pnet.net News:- Big Music’s fake cops in Australia have been told by the Federal Court they can continue to rummage through ISP Comcen’s computers and servers after the company refused to let forensic investigators in on Thursday.
The ‘examination’ is part of legal proceedings against mp3s4free.net and Comcen over alleged copyright infringements, says ZDNet Australia.
Anthony Morris, mp3s4free.net webmaster Stephen Cooper’s lead attorney, says Cooper did no more than to link to files on other websites.
“He has done nothing that Google or Yahoo hasn’t … he provided a directory for certain types of content,” Morris said. “He only provided a hyperlink.”.
The record label cartel’s Aussie reps, Universal Music Australia “and other record labels,” got justice Brian Tamblin to let them continue to poke around in Comcen’s systems, says ZDNet.
Big Music claims Comcen benefited directly from increased traffic on its servers as a result of the unauthorised trade of music files on mp3s4free and, “that the relationship between Cooper and Comcen extended beyond what may be expected from that between a Web site owner and their ISP provider,” states the story, adding the ISP maintains it only provided services to the site and didn’t directly host the, “copyright infringing music files”.
